Here is a list of adjudications, ombudsman decisions, counsels’ opinions and other documents – that relate to our work on settling disputes involving Equitable Life. These documents all open in PDF-format.
- May 2003 – adjudications on lead cases covering GAR-related issues –involving advice given by Equitable Life between September 1998 and July 2000: lead case B, lead case D and lead case E
- July 2003 – legal opinion from Jonathan Hirst QC (following instructions from the Financial Ombudsman Service)
- July 2003 – an adjudication on a lead case relating to advice that Equitable Life gave in 1990
- August 2003 – an adjudication on a lead case relating to advice that Equitable Life gave after the House of Lords' ruling in July 2000
- September 2003 – legal opinion from Christopher Carr QC and Gabriel Moss QC (following instructions from Equitable Life)
- June 2004 – further legal opinion from Jonathan Hirst QC (following instructions from the Financial Ombudsman Service)
- March 2005 – final decision by the chief ombudsman on the GAR-related lead case (Ms “E”) – upholding Ms E’s complaint (including an introduction and executive summary)
- March 2005 – decision by the chief ombudsman to exercise his discretion to decline to investigate complaints relating to information in Lord Penrose's report published in March 2004.
- September 2005 – an adjudicator’s view on a lead case relating to advice given by Equitable Life between 20 March 1998 and August 1998
- April 2006 – an adjudication on a GAR-related lead case – Mr H's case – relating to advice given by Equitable Life before 20 March 1998
- November 2006 – final ombudsman decision on the case of Mr and Mrs K – following on from the adjudication on Mr H’s case
- March 2007 – response by the Financial Ombudsman Service to the report by Lord Neill (commissioned by an action group representing dissatisfied investors in Equitable Life)
